More than a Meal

TARGET POPULATION
Adults age 60 and over or disabled adults who live alone or who have access to one of our four congregate dining sites.

OUTCOME DETAILS
Helping older adults to remain independent at home is a determinant of program success. Surveys and client tracking in our ServTracker database helps us to determine program success.

SOCIAL ISOLATION OR CONNECTION MEASURES USED
As part of the national network of more than 5,000 programs in the country, we benefit from the data collected from Meals on Wheels America. In study done by Brown University and funded by a grant from AARP Foundation, “meal delivery reduced self-reported feelings of loneliness to a stastically significant degree, compared to not receiving delivery.” The report can be found at: More Than A Meal:A randomized control trial
