Volunteers advocate for the rights of residents. They do this by receiving, investigating and resolving concerns of residents (and/or their family members) about quality of care. They are also concerned with monitoring appropriate laws, regulations, and policies affecting long term care residents. Volunteers can provide information to the public. Ombudsman volunteers seek to help resolve problems before they escalate into more serious problems. They can provide information, guidance and feedback to residents, family members and residence staff.
